How to safely look for a job?
In the age of the internet, job searching has become easier—but also riskier. Here are the key rules to help you avoid fraud:
Check the company
Before sending your CV, make sure the company actually exists. You can verify this in public registers like CEIDG (for sole proprietorships) or KRS (for companies). If it’s a recruitment agency, check whether it’s listed in KRAZ – the National Register of Employment Agencies.
Apply only through trusted sources
Use popular job boards, official employer websites, or verified agency portals. Avoid offers from random Facebook groups or unknown websites without contact details.
Be cautious on social media
If a recruiter contacts you via Facebook or LinkedIn:
– Look at their photo, activity, and number of contacts.
– Never share personal data via Messenger or DM.
– Check if their profile looks trustworthy and includes employment history..
Don’t click suspicious links
Did the recruiter send a link to a form? Make sure the site looks professional and is under the company’s domain. It’s better to type the website manually than click something sketchy.
Never pay for a job offer
If someone asks for a “verification” payment, recruitment fee, or sends a form requesting a copy of your ID or bank account details — stop all contact immediately. It’s a scam.
In case of a suspicious offer:
– If you shared personal data, immediately contact your bank and report it to the police.
– Report it to the platform or group administrator.
– Do not share any documents if you feel uncertain.
